It's Not Her Fault...

I don't cook.  I have to read the instructions on a microwave meal.  It's true.  When I started my own family, I used to blame my mom.

Growing up, I didn't see her cook a lot in the kitchen. Yes. We ate, but I don't remember her being in the kitchen...apron on...cooking and baking from scratch.  (In her defense...maybe I just didn't pay any attention).

Today, I can no longer blame her.  I can either learn to cook or continue eating out.  Until my Prince shows up...the one that I prayed to GOD that would know how to cook when he arrives...Yeah. That one...I'm going to continue to eat out. Lol

My sisters and I did not grow up knowing God's word.  My family was not a church going family.  We gave thanks for meals and prayed "that" bed time prayer...but reading and studying the word of God...No.  I don't remember doing that.

Again, I used to blame my mom.  However, today...it's not my mom's fault.  I am an adult and I can read His statutes and decrees for myself or not.  I can tell my children that His word is truth and share His precepts with them or not.  I can ignore all the things He's PROMISED me and hope that my life will "turn" out for the best or I can CLAIM the Crown He's given me and wear it with pride.

I don't want my children to secretly blame me for things that I did not teach them.

Please Father...May my cry come before you, O Lord; give me understanding according to your word.  May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise. (Psalm 119:169-170)

This year, I want my children to continually and clearly see me walking in His light.  They have enough worldly influences when I'm not in their presence and as their mom...it's the very least I can do.

Society is out of control...sex, drugs, alcohol, guns...just to name a few.  If you're not a parent...make the difference in the life of at least one child.  We cannot go back and change "anything" about our own childhood, but we can (today) change something about our children's future.

Don't just read them. Claim the PROMISES of the Lord!

Isaiah 62:3 "You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord's hand..."
He didn't just write that for me, He wrote it for you too.
