My window with a view

There are so many things that we take for granted. And I for one like to truly stop and smell the roses whenever I can. As a matter of fact, when I first enter the grocery store, I stop and smell the roses and Gerber daisies. I rarely buy them, it's just something I like to do before I begin shopping.

Here at our sort of new building at work, I have a very nice window. It's really huge actually. It used to be a school. I have a beautiful passionate purple butterfly taped to the window and I used to laugh and say that it was a replica of me trying to get on the other side. As if, I were trapped behind my desk and swamped in paperwork unable to flee. But I've since made peace with that part of my life. You all know the story behind that...

Anyway, from my window, I love to see the beautiful trees swaying from left to right, leaves drizzling to the ground, the raindrops and down pours of God's glory replenishing his crops, and the first snow flakes that we all eagerly await. As I type this, a big red fire engine just drove by and it always reminds me of little boys who grow up dreaming to be firemen. I've even documented the Butterfly sightings as they happily fluttered by my window throughout the summer.

But truly, this post was inspired by something I see all to often. Families walking by with that look on their face. You know that "something awful has happened look?" It immediately makes my heart sad, because where I sit happens to be right next to the Violent Crime Office, and that look usually means that a loved one was killed. Sorry to say that I'm used to the violent crime, but I never get use to that look that says, "Someone I loved has died."

Not to make light of the situation, but I trust in the Lord and I truly believe that His plan for us in His Kingdom is much bigger and better than this plan that we have for ourselves. I know that it does not comfort the families and will not bring back the loved ones, but we have to hold onto the something while we're down here on earth.

Love and peace always,
FSB

Hello Miss Butterfly,

After reading this post, and particularly the passage about stopping to smell the roses, I immediately thought of a book by Lysa TerKeurst "What Happens When Women Walk in Faith": Trusting God Takes You to Amazing Places.

I don't know if you've read that book, so I'll hold my comments. Yet, in short, she brilliantly illustrates the importance of having faith. She uses analogies, much like parablles in the bible, to give a clear understanding of the word "faith", and how we can use it in our everyday lives. In my opinion, it should be required reading.

Good morning Carey. I have not read the book and would love to. I love when my Blog friends refer really great books. You can never have too many when it comes to walking in Faith. That is my goal and I need all the assistance I can get. Especially in my line of work. You are a treasure to behold ;-)

Love and peace
Miss Butterfly.

Will be in touch once I read it. I'm currently reading "Radical" forget the author, but the book is incredible and offers some alternatives to today's American Dream. Recommended by my blogger friend from NYC, Myriam.

As always, thank you for stopping by & spending a moment with me.

Well said, well said.

I too have to remind myself of this fact every now and then. The struggles here on Earth are heavy and it's easy for all to lose faith or belief in a higher power that holds a purpose for each and every one of our lives.

So anxiety settles.

But, as you stated, it's that promise from the Heavens which assures all who seek the Word, that the reward is GREAT.

Thanks for sharing, AFSB.

I always wondered how were you able to hold in heartache as a policewomen who witnessed disheartening events.

Now I know.

Good morning beautiful blog family.

Happy Tuesday -

* Mizrepresent, thanks for visiting. nature is and has always been my comfort zone. there is absolutely no negative energy there; none!

* Don - thank you for such a beautiful comment. the old me use to carry the "death scenes" around for days in my head, until i realized that Christ had a plan for all those SOULS. now, i just continue to pray fervently that each and every one knows HIM before his/her last breath.
