Someone else's opinion

If you enjoy learning as well as making other people happy, you'll love this idea.

Almost everyone feels that their own opinions are good ones, other wise they wouldn't be sharing them with you. One of the destructive things that many of us do, however, is compare someone else's opinion to our own. And, when it doesn't fall in line with our belief, we either dismiss it or find fault with it. We feel smug, the other person feels diminished, and we learn nothing.

Almost every opinion has some merit, especially if we are looking for merit, rather than looking for errors. The next time someone offers you an opinion, rather than judge or criticize it, see if you can find a grain of truth in what the person is saying.

So what's wrong with that?

I WAS JOKING SIS.
This is an excellent point.
Many friendships have succumbed to that error, but never ours.

From James;

My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.

Thanks again for this worthwhile message. See Ya Soon!

You've done it again! Very good and necessary advise...especially for the children of God!

...and SLC perfect scripture verse from the book of James 1:19.

I was in a situation just recently with a friend who didn’t agree with my opinion on the topic and did just as you said and dismissed it. Do we do as creatures of habit do this unconsciously? As I grow closer in my relationship with God, I want to be sure I don’t unconsciously make have someone feel as I felt during the conversation with my friend.

Good stuff as usual! Coping and pasting this for future reference…

SLC - Amen!!!

Stacye - You got any extra tissue over there?

You are so correct. I have been guilty of that in the past. And as previously mentioned by SLC, we ought to be quick to listen and slow to speak...

Love ya!

I agree. My husband hates capris (don't ask me why - he's goofy) so it has hindered my ability to feel good about wearing them. And I think they are cute, but I let his opinion make my opinion null and void. I told him this just recently and guess what he said, "why would you care what I think? I don't know what's cute." I'm going to wear capris next summer.

WOW - Thanks everyone for your honest and awesome comments. I'd like to think that I have grown a lot from the girl who use to think her way was the right way. I work in an enviornment where "their" way is the right way, so my opionion doesn't really matter in the end. But the Lord knows my heart and HE sustains me. What I really love about my life now, is the fact that my daughter sees changes in me and that makes my heart happy. She use to shy away from me because she said she didn't want to hear my mouth. I "heard" what she said and took note. Now we talk all the time about her life, her choices and her feelings. I just listen with an open heart and not just waiting to tell her "what I think"

Love, peace and blessings to all!
