Longings...

I don't miss being married. We were unequally yoked.
I don't miss my youth. That lost little girl was so niave.
I don't miss being a size 6. It didn't look good it me
I don't miss my ex-boyfriends, who were just that-boys.
I don't miss brownies smothered in whipped cream. Well, maybe a little.
I don't miss my motorcycle that I never rode, but looked good in the garage.
I don't miss my big house that didn't hug me the end of a long hard day.
I don't miss my long gorgeous locs. Too much maintenance for me :-)
I don't miss my high credit score. Jesus doesn't care about that stuff.
I don't miss being a people pleaser. Saying no is so much healthier.
I don't miss any of the proceeds from my book sales. God's in control.

I do, however miss my best friend. A whole lot.

Welcome to the real me...

Greeting the day -

Most of us have forgotten how to greet the day. The knowledge is all but lost to us that a new day is sacred; a gift from God, a rare and precious gift. A new day brings with it another opportunity to start all over, to raise one’s head from the pillow with a glad heart, to watch the clouds roll across the dark sky now diffusing pink, and to breathe that child prayer of gratitude, “Oh, God, life again. Again, one more day of life.

I used to be the Queen of worry...

I would worry about my parents, my kid’s happiness, my sisters, my relationships, my finances, my weight, my job, my dog, my future and even my past. Silly enough, I would even stress over what to fix for dinner.

God led me to Matthew 6:25-34 beginning with “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” Ending with “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

There are times that old habits try to resurface but I acknowledge it, give myself a good 10 minutes to vent & then let it go. Allowing situations to build up internally will eventually show up externally! Believe me, I'm speaking from experience.
